Why was I denied boarding?

It is becoming more and more common for airlines to sell more tickets on their flights than there are seats based on the assumption that some of those passengers wont turn up. Denied boarding entitlements

If the airline denies you boarding against your will through no fault of your own then you have 3 options available to you:

1. A refund of your ticket within 7 days
2. To be booked onto another flight with the same or alternative airline.
3. A ticket to your destination on an agreed date

In adddition to this the airlines should provide you with a meal and refreshments to cover the duration of your delay, hotel accomodation if the delay is overnight along with transport to and from the hotel. Even if the airline finds you an alternate flight you can still claim for denied boarding compensation if your expected arrival time is over 3 hours.

How Much Can I Claim For Denied Boarding?
